This book provides detailed insights into the disputes between Connecticut settlers into land around what today is the Wilkes Barre, Penna. area. The land had been deeded to the Connecticut colony. The book describes the land sales with the companies that sold the deeds and the adventures the settlers found fighting with Native Americans, the British, and the Pennsylvanians. The three Yankee -Pennamite Wars between the Connecticut settlers, joined by the Paxtang Gang from Pennsylvania, versus Pennsylvanians are presented.
While the Connecticut settlers did well in the battles and had the deeds first, Congress decided that geography was more important and the land was declared a part of Pennsylvania. The subsequent squabbles over who had proper deeds to be filed with Pennsylvania resulted. While much of the book presents lists from found records once believed lost, which has a limited interest, the descriptions in presenting this history are excellent.
